Junior Harvesters Open House and Plant Sale

Tater time

On Monday we harvested potatoes and when I say that I mean we had a full-on fight on who got the most potatoes, and who got the dirtiest. We were pushing each other out of the way to get to the potatoes and throwing dirt on each other.  On that day we got about 8 pounds of potatoes.  We also harvested our first zucchinis.

On April 29 we harvested the rest of our snow peas also we harvested kale.We cleaned up the garden by pulling weeds .

On May 1  we watered and planted herbs in large containers. We harvested cilantro and removed snow peas also we trimmed our plants in the butterfly garden.

On May 4 We tilled our bed for squash and moved our herbs to a sunnier location.

hi blogger readers!! This will be the first but not the last time i talk to you personally about my opinions. Someone has been harvesting our carrots out of the garden. All Junior Harvesters think that this is wrong! So, to solve this problem, Mr. L and the bloggers will be putting up signs that say,

"PLEASE DO NOT HARVEST OUR VEGETABLES."
This garden is grown and tended by SES students. All that we grow is used in our cafeteria where all of our students can enjoy our homegrown produce.

Garden Report for Week of April 22nd

Over the last week, we have been doing quite a bit of things in the garden. We potted parsley and harvested many vegetables, including collards, lettuce, radishes, and snow peas.We had some damage from bugs and the rainstorms over the week, which caused our potatoes to be blown over. The 10 inches of rain over the week flooded our shed badly. Harlequin bugs showed up on kale and collards, which Mr.Lowry sprayed. Our Friday session was cancelled due to the rain. We also repotted herbs and harvested lettuce and pulled  weeds.
